5 years of FeastPDX
We’re officially in September, which means the 5th year kickoff of Feast Portland is 2 weeks away! Now, at this point you’re probably prepping for September 15-18 and wondering “How do I prepare for the biggest, most anticipated Oregon culinary/cultural event of the year?" Well, all you really need to pack are THESE:
Pack your Tickets - There are Friday Grand Tasting tickets and Drink Tank event tickets still available if you’re still in need of your Feast Portland ticket fix.I’ll be at both the Friday & Saturday Grand Tastings, so pop in and say hi. Tickets are $60 and the event is from 1pm-5pm in Pioneer Courthouse Square. That works itself out to $15 an hour for all you can drink wine and samples from some of Oregon’s most awesome artisans and winemakers.
Pack Your Hashtags - Do you Instagram? Do you use Twitter? Of course you do! Listen to me: Copy and paste the below hashtags into your phone’s notepad app. Then, when you’re at one of the following events, just copy and paste. Do you know much time copying and pasting your hashtags saves? A LOT. You can even go nuts and create subsets hashtags for the following events too! #HashtagEverything

Pack an external battery - You’ll need one for your phone. You never realize how much you miss your phone until it’s dead and you can no longer take a picture of that Salt & Straw ice cream cone or that wine label that you’ve been drunkenly staring at. So go on Amazon and grab one. You’ll thank me later. Also, if you find me wandering around the Grand Tasting or any other event and you need some phone juice, i’ll be more than happy to hook you up.
Pack a Pack - Bring a bag. Any bag. Any tote. Stop by Rite-Aid and get a paper one. Go to Will Leather Goods and get an awesome one. You’ll need it.You’ll need it for extra samples, those wine holding necklaces, pamphlets, and most of all: business cards. You’ll encounter a LOT of business cards, which you should pick up so you can track down those artisans after the week is over...
Pack an open mind - Do you only drink red wine? Now is the perfect time to try white! Do you LOVE stouts and porters but hate hate hate IPAs? Now is a great time to dive deep into an IPA. Try something you’ve never tried before.Feast is a great time to explore those food and drink urges that you’ve always dreamt about. You might risk serious FOMO otherwise.
Remember, much like life, Feast Portland is a journey, not a destination. It’s a great time to engage artisans, chefs, and other fellow eaters in conversations about food or drink. So don’t be shy. Just remember the things I mentioned above, and pull up a chair. Welcome to the table.
